AIM was established in the year 1996 under the aegis of a non-profitable autonomous body called All India Asian Education Foundation (AIAEF), registered under Indian Societies Registration Act,XXI of 1860. The growth of the institute has been spectacular in a short span of time.

Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University (PDPU), a research-led-teaching University, is established by Act of Gujarat State Legislature . The School of Petroleum Technology under PDPU offers B.Tech. M.Tech and Ph.D programmes in Petroleum Engineering. The School brings world class education and teaching methodology to classroom by having highly qualified faculty supported by state of art infrastructure and Industry support.
